Promotional Canvas Bags: Your Next Step in Green Business

There are many different ways to go green with your business. And as a business, you should be implementing as many as possible. Businesses are looked up to in a way from the community. They are leaders, and whether or not they choose to be, people look up to them as an example. Therefore, businesses should be setting the correct example in environmental issues.

You've probably been making some changes. Earlier, I said earlier that businesses should make as many changes as possible. This does not mean to just go crazy, forget about business and focus just on the environment. That would be silly, and you would be out of business within weeks. What I really mean is that businesses should be concerned about the environment, and make changes in the way they conduct business as they see fit. Following are some examples.

Eco-friendly printing

You probably do a fair amount of printing if you're in business. For example, your company probably has business cards, letterhead, brochures, etc. So, when these materials are printed, make sure they are being printed with a respect for the environment. An eco-friendly printer is not always more expensive, either. There are many digital printers out there with very good quality work who are also eco-friendly.

Conserving water

As a business, try to keep your water usage to a minimum. Things like watering the lawn can be minimized or cut entirely. Installing motion sensors on faucets will also reduce the amount of water being used. Also, if you provide a water cooler for employees instead of a water fountain, this will also cut water waste.

Now, tell your customers!

Your customers will be pleased to hear that you are being kind to the environment, not to mention they will be more likely to purchase products from you. Make sure that they know you're going green. A great way to make it known is to use promotional canvas bags with your logo imprinted. Along with your logo, a message could also be imprinted stating how you're company is green. For example, "We've cut our water consumption by 50 gallons per month!" Your customers will love getting a reusable shopping bag from you because it helps the environment, and it helps you because it announces to everyone that sees the bag that your company is going green.

Green Business Tip: Use a Promotional Tote Bag

Why should you consider "greening" your business? This is the question that many business owners are asking. Is the green movement just a fad? Do people really care about the environment, or are they just looking for more ways to make money?

That all depends on your answer to this question: are humans naturally good or evil? If they are evil, humans only care about their selfish desires, and they only want to go green because in the end it will make them more money. If your answer is that all humans are naturally good, then humans really do want to help the environment as much as possible and make as little of an impact as possible.

So, what do you believe? If you're in business, it doesn't really matter. Either way you look at it, people are going green; most likely with both motivations. People are going green to make money and because they really care about the environment. If you're in business you need to make your customers happy, and one positive thing you can do for your customers is to give them a promotional tote bag that is eco friendly.

You don't even have to just give it away for nothing, either. Some businesses that are moving into the green realm are giving their customers a free promotional tote bag when they purchase a certain amount of merchandise. For example, a meat market may give their customers a reusable shopping bag when they purchase more than $50 of meat. A coffee shop may give away a cotton drawstring backpack to customers that return to their store to fill up their cup 10 times.

There are lots of ways businesses can go green and a great resource for going green is by downloading this free guide: http://greenbagpromos.com/green-ideas-for-business.html

Non-Woven Tote Bags

Many people ask what non-woven bags are. So I'd like to answer that question in a simple way in this blog.

The best way to explain what a non-woven bag is, would be to explain what a woven bag is, first. A woven bag is made from material that must be "woven" together. Typically this material is a fiber. The best example of a woven material is cotton. Cotton canvas tote bags are made from natural fibers that are rolled very thin and woven together to make a tough, durable material.

On the contrast, non-woven bags are made of plastic. These non-woven tote bags can be made from recycled plastics or it could be made from new plastic. Both can be recycled at most recycling centers. Basically, instead of having a woven fabric, the material is pressed very thin to make sheets of material, which is then sewn into bags and other products. Non-woven bags are great for the environment because they are extremely durable and reusable. They can also be made from recycled material and they can be recycled.

Fundraising is Going Green

These days everything and everybody seems to be all about "Going Green." Why not fundraising? This article will show you how going green is a great fundraiser that will bring in some money and help out the environment too!

Whatever your organization--school, library, non-profit, hospital--this fundraising idea will work for you. It involves selling advertising placements on a reusable shopping bag. Here's the basic idea behind this fundraising idea:

It's really a quite simple concept, which can be implemented in any organization. Sell ad placements on an eco friendly shopping bag. The best types of bags for this will be any kind of reusable bag. Check to make sure it is an eco friendly material like cotton canvas. This fundraiser is especially suited for schools because the students do all of the ad sales. It's easy to split up the imprinting area on the bags into multiple ad spaces, and divide the cost of the bag production by the number of advertising spaces, and increase the cost of the placement according to the amount of money the organization would like to profit.

Businesses love to be seen as being involved in the community. So, this kind of fundraising is not very difficult to sell. There are many ways to sell the advertising. All the ad sizes could be equal in size, or there could be a premium ad on each side of the bag that would bring in more money. I think it will be more clear in the example to follow.

For the examples purpose, let's say there is a tote bag that cost 1.65, and the second side imprinting costs $0.42, which is a total of $2.07. Let's also say that the organization will purchase 1,000 bags for distribution. The total bag costs is about $2,070. You also have to remember shipping and setup charges. For sake of this example, assume that all ad sizes are the same, and there are 8 ads per side; totaling 16 ads. The cost per ad placement to cover the bag price would be $129, but this will not profit the organization. If the ads cost $200, that would profit the organization $1,136. $200 isn't very much for an ad placement, so, the ads could be $250 or more. If the ads cost $250, the organization would profit $1936. As you can see, this could be a very profitable fundraiser for an organization.

Distribution is another way the organization could help raise even more money. The bags could be sold an events for a small profit. Even if the bags are resold for $1, the organization would be making an additional $1000. Some organizations also feel that the advertisers should be getting the bags to hand out to their customers. These bags could be given away by the advertisers' storefronts. Either way, advertisers will be getting 1000 "walking billboards" with their ads being shown to countless numbers of people.

Reuse This!

What comes into your mind when you think of an eco friendly shopping bag? I think that for most American consumers, when hearing this phrase, they think about the traditional reusable shopping bag. This is for a very good reason. It is a very eco friendly bag. By using the reusable shopping bags, people are saving the earth's resources. The disposable plastic bags are only good for one use--maybe two uses at most, and then they are thrown away.

Plastic is made from oil and other bio products, which cannot break down easily in the dump. So, when consumers use the reusable shopping bags, they are actually saving the earth's resources by not using the regular plastic bags. It's replacing the plastic bags as well as the paper bags.

The reusable shopping bags are widely available now in almost every grocery, convenient, and supermarket store. They are also available for a minimal cost. The use of the reusable shopping bag is most important because it is minimizing the use of the disposable plastic bags. The plastic bags consume so much oil and other natural resources. The reusable shopping bags are really saving the manufacturing of a lot of natural resources as well as saving the earth a lot of natural resources.

There's a lot of discussion right now about the government regulation of plastic bags, which is great for the environment. Without getting into politics, this step will increase the use of reusable shopping bags. A lot of regulations are occurring currently, among state and local governments. The regulations either prohibit the use of plastic bags completely or minimize the use by adding a sur-charge to any plastic bag that is used. This will discourage consumers from using too many plastic bags, and will cause the consumer to purchase a reusable bag one time. Purchasing one reusable shopping bag will save the consumer money in the long-run also.

Another great way that reusable shopping bags are entering the market is through fashion. Not only are these bags becoming a trendier fashion accessory, but the clothing departments are also promoting them to their customers to use as shopping bags when they return the next time. This also gives the department store advertising when the customer takes the bag to different stores because the logo will be shown on the outside of the bag.

There are a lot of great things happening in the eco friendly world. It is exciting to be able to watch the buzz of saving the environment. Don't be afraid to jump in and do your part!

A Lot Less plastic bags in the Capital?

As reported by enn.com, Washington D.C. will be considering whether or not to impose a $0.05 tax on every plastic or paper bag used in stores. This would be a very considerable markup which would be great for the environment!
Disregarding the politics of the issue, the tax would discourage many people from using the store's bags, and most people will opt for buying the reusable shopping bags. This is exciting news for any company wanting to go eco friendly with their shopping bags.
Grocery stores should be aware, however, that just because a bag is reusable, does not necessarily mean that it is eco friendly. Cotton bags are one of the most eco friendly bags because they are made from a natural biodegradable material.

Too Green in School?

Earlier this month, Ruth Ravve wrote an article posted on FoxNews.com about schools that are placing too much emphasis on being eco friendly. The main critics of green education are calling it green indoctrination.
I would say, what's so wrong with teaching kids to recycle what they can, and reuse things as much as possible such as their lunch boxes, etc? The fact is, as adults, we usually do not think about recycling the way we should be thinking. The next generations are learning to keep their waste levels down and be more economical, which not only saves money, but helps out the environment as a whole.
As adults, we too should be cutting back on our waste. Try cutting back garbage by a bag per week, or start recycling your cans and bottles. And as always, use reusable shopping bags! Plastic bags are one of the largest areas where the product simply goes to waste.

500 billion plastic bags!!?? We'll put an end to that

Do a search on the internet to see how many bags are used annually. You'll most likely find that the global consumption of plastic bags is somewhere between 500 billion and 1 trillion! One site even broke it down to minutes: about 1 million bags per minute!
These statistics are not necessary in our world today. Store owners need to get 100% on board and make their shopping more eco friendly. Consumers should be using reusable shopping bags at least. We feel that people can and should do even more by using biodegradable shopping bags made from cotton. Cotton Canvas shopping bags are not just reusable, but also biodegradable; the best of both worlds!

So many Eco-Friendly ideas?! Keep it simple

So, we would like to encourage you to just start small with being eco friendly. Keep things simple! Instead of trying to save the world all at the same time, tackle little projects. Do your part at purchasing eco friendly products that can be recycled, are made from recycled material, or are made from biodegrable material.
