Eco Friendly Printers - Print For Less Review

As the new years approaches, I would like to encourage you to find more eco friendly ways to do the same things you already doing. A lot of times, these more environmentally friendly ways will also save you money! Finding an eco friendly printer is one of these ways that will help you save money and the environment. This online printer is a great source for eco friendly printing.

Eco-Friendly Printing
There are a few major areas that you should consider when looking for an eco friendly printer.

Paper

Paper choice is very important when considering the environment. There is enough information that could be discussed on just paper alone. It really comes down to the bleach, however. Trees are a resource that can be reused over and over again. Dioxin, the chemical usually used to bleach paper, is not a renewable resource. Once used, it cannot be used again, ever. So, paper that is bleached with dioxin is not an eco friendly paper choice. You should try to find printers that use paper that is milled elemental chlorine free.

Ink

The inks that a printer uses can also be very harmful to the environment if the incorrect inks are used. For many decades, printers used any inks that were available. Some printers still use these old inks. Those kinds of inks are harmful to the environment because they are made with harsh chemicals that effect the environment. The waste water used to print contains many harmful chemicals that effect the streams, rivers, lakes, fields, etc. An eco friendly printer will use inks that are vegetable based, primarily soy, which is gentle on the environment, and the inks still produce great, high quality images. Technology has come a long way, and you don't have to sacrifice quality for an environmentally friendly ink.

Packaging

Traditional packaging of printed products includes a cardboard box and peanuts. Packaging materials are not necessarily harmful to the environment, but it is how those materials are treated that can harm the planet. Foam peanuts are typically made from a petroleum base. An eco friendly printer will use packaging materials that are made of biodegradable materials to pad the printed materials inside of boxes. The boxes, if made of cardboard, can be recycled and made into new cardboard. There is no reason why cardboard boxes should not be recycled. Another good way to make cardboard boxes eco friendly is to reuse them in your own company. Use an old box to ship your next item to a customer.

Eco friendly printers will also try their hardest to reduce waste in paper trimmings. They will make the best cuts out of the paper, and they will take any waste and reuse it in other paper like newsprint. Power supply is also another way to spot an eco friendly company. Find an eco friendly printer that is powered by solar or wind energy.

Promotional Canvas Bags

How are your advertising dollars being returned? Promotional canvas bags are a great way to promote your company or organization because they are an eco friendly bag promotes your business in a way that is appealing to customers. People like to know they are helping out the environment. So, they are more happy to do business with you, a company who is going green. Canvas bags are green because they are made from cotton, which is a natural, biodegradable fabric. There are lots of different uses for promotional canvas bags, and I would like to highlight three of them in this article.

The first way to use these bags is as a giveaway. You can give these bags away at a tradeshow. This is very popular because tradeshows are known for giveaways, but if you're the company giving away bags to carry everything in, you're looked at as the hero! You can also give them away in your storefront. A lot of companies will give them away after the customer has purchased a set amount of product. For example, a meat market may give customers a free bag for every $50 they spend. Community events are also a good place to give away the bags. This will make your company look good to the neighborhood.

Another use of these promotional canvas bags would be to sell them in the store. As a business, you can choose to make a profit from the bag sales, or you can decide to sell them at cost as a marketing tool. Your customers will be toting these bags around with them to other stores and they will also be bringing them back to your store, which is what you ultimately want.

The third use of these bags is fundraising. Non-profit organizations can sell advertising space on one side of the bag and use the other side for their own logo. After the bags are printed, the organization can sell the bags for profit. The cost of the bag will be basically covered by the ad sales, and the bag sales will be received as profit. This is an easy way, especially for smaller non-profits to make money.

After you have these bags in people's hands, your logo will be seen by multiple people and multiple times. How many times have you used a promotional product, and the recipient threw it away once they reached their destination? Or they simply consumed it, never to remember your company again. When you use a cotton canvas bag promotion, your recipients will thank you because it is something that they will actually use, and it will look favorably for your business because it is something that is friendly to the environment. These bags, whether you give them away, sell in your store, or use to raise funds, are a good use of your promotional advertising dollars.

The Eco Friendly Cotton Material

Here's an article that had been written a while ago. I thought I'd pull it out of the archive!

There's a lot of "eco friendly" hype out there. A lot of people are claiming to be eco friendly for a number of different reasons. How are we supposed to know who really is truthful? What makes a material environmentally friendly? In my opinion, I would have to say an green material is one that is not affecting the environment. This means it does not affect the wild life, and it does not affect us, humans, as well.

When I mention the word "materials," I am referring to the fabrics that are used to manufacture all sorts of consumer products such as clothing and accessories, etc.

The differences between materials in regards to them being green depends on how the fabrics are made. One factor that really affects how they are made is where the fabric is manufactured in the world. Fabrics that are made in the USA are typically more environmental-conscious because of the strict regulations and guidelines that the government has imposed on manufacturers. These guidelines include regulations such as the methods and chemicals used during the dying process when the cotton is turned into different colors, as well as the imprinting of the material, which would include chemicals from the inks. Also, there are always chemicals used for clean-up which can be hazardous for the environment. Other countries may have very little or no regulations as to the processes and chemicals used in fabric manufacturing.

Now, to the material. The material is a very large part in consideration of how green a fabric actually is. In my opinion, cotton fabric is the most eco friendly material out there. Just a few reasons why I believe cotton to be the most environmentally friendly material:

Natural Fiber
Cotton is a naturally growing fiber. There is no need to mix chemicals to make a plastic. Cotton is already readily available in our environment. So, why not use it as a natural resource? We are actually using a natural resource that can be grown and harvested to manufacture fabrics

Reusable
After the fabric is manufactured and sewn into the final product, it can be reused over and over again because it is a durable material. For example, cotton in your clothing is a very comfortable cloth, and you probably will wear a cotton shirt hundreds of times before it wears out. Another example is cotton bags. Bags can be reused over multiple times before ever showing a sign of wear. Plastic bags however have a very limited life-span, and usually once they have been used once, they are thrown away.

Biodegradable
Once someone is finished using this material (typically years after it has been manufactured), the fabric will break down easily to it's original state of waste in the ground.

Cotton is a natural fiber, a reusable fiber, and it is also a biodegradable material. So, in my opinion, cotton is the the greenest fabric available on the market right now. Also, to make the cotton even more eco friendly, it is made in the USA.
